The Fairfax Public Library applied for and received a $3,000.00 Grant from the State of Iowa to do a Library Assessment. We have hired George Lawson from Ames , to evaluate our Library building and make recommendations for meeting the needs of our growing community in the years to come.

The Library recently acquired two books about whitetail deer, written and photographed by Charles J. Alsheimer. Whitetail: Rites of Autumn , and Hunting Whitetails by the Moon .
The Library wishes to thank the Fairfax Senior Club for its donation in memory of Dorothy Petrik. The memorial was used to purchase the book Gift from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh.

A public hearing is slated to be scheduled for the regular meeting of the Fairfax City Council on October 11, 2005, at 7:00 PM at Fairfax City Hall to consider the 1st reading of an amendment to the Fairfax Code of Ordinances, Chapter 99 - Sewer Service Charges, Section 99.02 -Rate.
A sewer rate increase is needed to help provide funding for the new Wastewater Treatment Facility. The City Council will be considering the implementation of a flat charge of $6.00 per month which will be included on your monthly utility bill.
At the aforementioned time and place, oral or written objections may be filed or made to the proposed Ordinance change.

AGENDAS
The deadline to be placed on the Planning & Zoning Commission's Agenda is the 2nd Tuesday of each month. If there is no agenda, the meeting will be cancelled. The deadline for the City Council's Agenda is by 12:00 Noon on the 1st Tuesday of the month.
Recollections of the Past first appeared in THE FAIRFAX FACTS during the spring of 2001. Since that time we have printed old photographs and stories relating to the early days of Fairfax . Old photograph albums usually are stuffed in the back of the closet or hidden somewhere in the attic. Is there an old photo or an incident pertaining to Fairfax that you would be willing to share with the community? If so, please contact Connie at City Hall, 846-2204, or Vernon Cerveny, 846-2573.
